The present album is a step towards acknowledging the existence and beauty of the indigenous Iranian and Indian production of the Shahnameh. It presents the illustrations included in the Shahnameh's Iranian editions, and discusses the models they drive from. In this respect, the present album supplements the broad scholary activity treating the illustration of the Shahnameh in illuminated manuscripts.
